Member of the ISI Advisory Group shared details of ISI activities at the 8th World Water Forum

From March 19 to 23, 2018, the 8th World Water Forum was held in Brazil’s capital, Brasilia. Organized every three years by the World Water Council, This important international platform aims “to promote awareness, build political commitment and trigger action on critical water issues at all levels” by gathering leading policymakers, scientists, and private sector and civil society organizations. As the world’s biggest water-related event, the forum plays a vital role  in raising global awareness of water-related issues. This year’s World Water Forum in Brasilia was attended by  more than 10 Heads of State and 100 Ministers from around the world. It was the first time the meeting has been held in the Southern Hemisphere.

Dr. Cheng Liu, a member of ISI Advisory Group, participated in 2 sessions as a panelist: ‘Session 8.a.1: Information and training for decision makers’ and ‘Session 1.C.1 Water and land management techniques for climate change mitigation’. He shared experiences by introducing the main activities of IRTCES and the International Sediment Initiative (ISI) of UNESCO.
